Janki matches her passion for building brands, with fearlessness to explore all realms of design by telling stories across sport, music, art and culture. I am a visual and verbal storyteller, that loves a good design battle that delivers insights and ideas that generate empathy and excitement for clients. I bring my passion for playing with lego (and colours) to work every day, since I believe work is play! I love experiencing different cities and uniformly crisp French fries.

Team Leadership skills
Manage and inspire a team of in-house designers and external creative partners. Proactively identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve creative processes. Working with a smile. I am resilient with a calm demeanour as I understand the strength if you lead with optimism. I celebrate people and their successes. This helps me thrive in fast paced environments with tight deadlines.

Design Strategy
Not just saying this for the sake of sounding professional (but I am), but I do believe that strong and timeless design only happens when backed up by concrete design thinking and applying visual solutions to the brief by understanding the brand positioning strategy. That is how you have ideas that have maximum impact.

Design, design, design
I am a doer and like to lead by example and make great work. Oversee its execution across various channels, ensuring attention to detail, and brand consistency. I have a “no-ego” approach where I believe I have to be hands-on. From soup to nuts is what I need to serve!

The field of design offers the unique opportunity of learning something new every day. My personal willingness to work outside of my comfort zone, whether it is the country I was brought up in, or the particular medium that I am familiar with, has been key to the success of my projects. Through my desire to continually learn, I have earned the opportunity to work on a diverse set of projects, including broadcast, sports and not-for-profit sectors. Continual learning is challenging but it is fundamental to my approach to design.

This constant learning curve makes a regular “work (play) day” more uplifting.

And finally, my values of diversity and continual learning are supported by a more fundamental belief in listening to others, admitting my mistakes and being a good human being. The day I graduated, my sister gifted me a copy of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, The Places You’ll Go, In it was inscribed, “I hope you become the best designer ever, but more than that I hope you remain a good human being.”

I try my best to live the spirit of these words, and I think they have carried me far in my career. (and my life as a parent to a dog and a human)
